By applying for and/or having a missionary profile on forafriend.com, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions contained in this document. Failure to comply with any of these terms or conditions may result in the removal of your profile from our website. At all times forafriend.com employees have sole discretion to remove or suspend your profile.
It is your responsibility to keep us up-to-date on any changes to your current country, organization, role within the organization, faith, and private email address. Send us an email at email@example.com should any of these things change. If we need an update on you and can’t reach you by your email address registered with forafriend, we reserve the right to suspend or remove your profile.
Your forafriend.com profile is a way for you to connect with your current supporters, future supporters, and the body of Christ at large (especially the younger ones). It’s a way for you to let people know what God is doing in your part of the world, and invite them to be a part of it. We encourage creativity in how you use your profile. If you have an idea of what to put on it and you’re not sure if you should or you don’t know how, please email us first. We’d also love to hear your ideas on how to continue to improve our platform.
You must maintain your profile by keeping your public information up-to-date. This includes your mission, currently-used relational ministry gifts, links, and optionally pictures, updates, etc. If it appears as though you haven’t changed anything in a while, we’ll check in with you.
Prohibited Profile Items
- We don’t allow soliciting of givers or unfair “competition” with other forafriend missionaries in order to gain more funding. You may tell people that they can contribute to you on forafriend, but you may not discourage them in any way from contributing to others instead.
- You may not misrepresent forafriend in terms of values and our missional agenda.
- You may not put anything on your profile that would endanger the security of another missionary.
- You may not use any means to undermine the usefulness of our website, gain unauthorized access, exploit any vulnerabilities, or engage in any other activity that is malicious towards forafriend our our website.
- You may not use any techniques to redirect visitors to other websites, other than using the “links” area.
- You may not provide any goods or services in exchange for funds received on forafriend.com. They are strictly gifts.
Part of your forafriend.com profile is a list of “gifts” people can send you to help with your ministry. You are asked to maintain a small list of things you use regularly in your relational ministry and assign an approximate cost to each one. Visitors to the site can “buy” one or more of those gifts for you, which involves sending the specified amount of funds to you, with the designation of what it is for. We encourage you to keep this list up-to-date reflecting your current ministry, describing as specifically as possible how each gift will be used by you. Each gift should be under $20. If you’re unsure whether a gift idea you have is suitable for forafriend, please email us and ask. If we deem any of your gifts unsuitable, we may ask you to remove it or remove it ourselves and let you know.
Use of Funds Received
You may receive funds for your ministry through forafriend.com. To line up with our mission as an organization, we require you to use these funds towards relational ministry. Forafriend cannot be used to raise general support or for high dollar items. We are intentionally focused on low-cost relational ministry and that is what we want to encourage and support. No family vacations or new cars. The funds you receive may or may not be designated for a certain gift item that you listed. If they are, you are strongly encouraged to use them for the item they are allocated for. If your ministry needs have changed, or you receive more for one gift type than you can use, those funds should be used for another relational ministry activity, and you should contact the giver(s) to let them know you’ve used the funds in another way. We want to maintain the integrity of our service.
We may changes these terms at any time. If we do, we will notify you via the email address given on your user account. Your continue use of forafriend after this notice indicates your agreement with the new terms. If you do not agree with the new terms, we’d like to know why, so please contact us, but also hide or close your account immediately.

Terms of Service
When you give money through forafriend.com you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.
‘forafriend’, ‘forafriend.com’, ‘us’, and ‘we’ refer to Forafriend, Inc. ‘Our website’, ‘the website’, and ‘website’ refer to the content/services on forafriend.com. ‘Missionary’ refers to someone who has a profile on forafriend.com. 'Gift' refers to a payment to forafriend, associated with an intended missionary recipient, and possibly associated with an intended use, and a personal message.
Terms of Your Gift:
Any money you give on forafriend.com is a gift to ForAFriend, Inc. Forafriend has full legal control over all money given through forafriend. 100% of your gift will go toward what we deem as ‘relational ministry’, unless you’ve specified that it should go to our organization to cover our costs.
When you give you will be sent a receipt via email to the email address you give us. This will contain details about your gift and a transaction number which you should reference if you have any questions about your order. You may also receive an email from the missionary when they use your gift.
When you give, the missionary is informed immediately via email of the gift amount, designation, sender (unless you elected to remain anonymous), and your personal message. You can expect your donation to appear as FORAFRIEND.COM on your credit card or bank statement soon after your submission of the gift.
Designation/Payment of Funds:
We do our best to make sure that the money you give goes exactly where you have specified. In extenuating circumstances, such the missionary dying, or the missionary failing to comply with their terms of service, your money may not make it to that missionary. In general, if we discover that this is the case before we have sent your donation to that person, we will refund your card. Otherwise, we will send the funds to another missionary. When missionaries are provided a profile on forafriend.com they agree to use the funds that we give them for the items for which they are designated as much as possible. There are times when this will not be possible because of a change in their situation, a flood of donations for a certain item, or other circumstances. In those cases the missionary agrees to use the funds for other relational ministry expenses or re-gift on forafriend.com. We also suggest the missionary let givers know if they are using it for something different than it was intended for. We do our best to screen and monitor missionaries with profiles, but forafriend will not be held liable for unauthorized or unacceptable use of our website. If you have specified that you would like to “cover your fees”, we (forafriend) will keep the amount specified in your order.
The funds are normally transferred to the missionary’s bank account within 30 days of your transaction. We are not held liable if it takes longer than 30 days, or if the money is not sent to the missionary for any reason. In all cases, we have full control over what is done with your donation, and we are not .
Communication with Missionaries on Forafriend.com:
Communication with missionaries on forafriend through sending a gift or "encouragement" is for personal connections and is not intended for promoting any products, events, or services or for mass communication. Sending the same message to multiple missionaries is considered mass communication. Users who communicate inappropriately may be blocked from using forafriend.com.

We take missionary security very seriously. You should too.
"Why?" you may ask...
Some missionaries have missionary visas so the government knows they're missionaries and all their friends know they're missionaries so they aren't concerned about security. But that's not the case for most missionaries. Many missionaries are in countries that don't give missionary visas or don't want to be known as a "missionary" among the people God's called them to for a variety of reasons. We understand, respect, and honor these concerns. You should too.
What do we do to respect missionaries' concerns?
We've had missionaries' security concerns in mind while creating forafriend. We are dedicated to make this site a blessing to those who can be open about what they're doing and those who can't.
If you're a missionary who has security concerns because of your location or the nature of the work you're doing, here's what we'll do to keep you secure:
- Force your browser to request all pages of our website using https encryption
- Prevent search engines from indexing your profile page and therefore linking your name with forafriend
- Only showing information you've chosen to make public
- Give you the ability to take your profile offline with one click.
- Filter words out of your emails that might possibly create suspicion if your emails are being monitored
You must also take your own precautions according to your needs which can include:
- Using a fake name for your public name OR
- Only posting your continent and not your country
- Not posting any info you want to keep private (such as email addresses, photos, mailing address, etc)
- Keeping your profile non-indexable by search engines (which it already is by default)
What should non-missionary forafriend users know?
We do everything we can do respect missionaries' security concerns, but there's a few things you should keep in mind:
- On forafriend, missionaries who have told us they have security concerns are indicated by a little lock icon. Assume the others don't want the whole world to know everything about them either.
- Never post anything on the internet about a missionary without their permission - even if you found it on the internet originally. This includes forafriend profiles. They are not searchable, but if you copy info to another site that is searchable, that's a problem.
- If you know more about a missionary than they're publicly listing, keep it to yourself. There's a good reason they haven't made it public.
- Pray for the missionaries on forafriend, especially those who are concerned about their security.
